Emeriti Park and campus shots

A visit to Emeriti Park was warranted since the day was beautiful and warm.  Many students were out enjoying the Spring treat.

The "entrance" gate.  I don't think anyone actually enters here, since the whole thing is unfenced, except for right here.  Still, it is pretty.

Part of a daffodil garden donated by a university member.

Now a few pictures taken with the evening light.

The "bent" shadows are pretty cool.

Another "bent" shot.

A picture of Three taking a picture.

Four looks for his next shot.

Pretty sure this is some variety of magnolia.  Could be wrong, though.

A view of Baker Center from across the water.

A distance shot of the park and Clippinger behind it.

Weeping cherry tree.

Now let's move to the grove of mature cherry trees beside the river.  I was rather enamored of this one, and got some really nice shots of Five between the branches.

Six fulfills his desire to climb a tree.

Moving on to The Ridges, this shot is taken in front of the Tuberculosis Ward, facing southeast.  Konneker Research Center is in the foreground.

Three explores the Tuberculosis Ward grounds.  The building was boarded up (and entrance steps removed) last year, I believe, because of students coming to do ghost hunting and such (and subsequently getting hurt.), in addition to the large amounts of asbestos used in building the structure.

I bought almost-matching shirts for the fam so we could take a group picture (which turned out fairly well.)  We're taking advantage of evening light to get random shots and walk around this awesome place.

Old building, old tree.  Young people.

Some of these portals led to interior courtyards, but I believe the student-to-bottle ratio has caused the university to gate them up.

The driveways around The Ridges are curved, so it looks like this one disappears into nowhere.  I also like the variety of bricks on the building, the road, and the walkway.

When I drove Three to class on Thursday, I noted the morning light at Emeriti Park and regretted not having my camera.  So the next day, I skipped out on some of my organ practice time to come back down and get more shots.  Unfortunately, the ducks I saw the previous morning were gone.  Drats!

After Four showed me a critical function on my camera (do I have to read the manual?) I decided to see if I could finally get some better shots.  This cherry blossom picture isn't too bad.

These daffodils were fantastic; backlit by the sun, they looked like they were glowing.

Now it's time to practice the organ.  I walked up Jeff Hill; this is a photo of the immensely unattractive music building.

One of many massive trees on campus.  I'm a huge fan of trees.

When I got to the chapel, I was greeted with this:

I should perhaps be grateful that it's not globs of candle wax or spilled Pepsi, both of which have occurred more than once.  Regardless, practice was done.  Class was attended.  New College Student child was taken to class. Ear Infection Child was examined.  More class was attended with Five and Six in tow.  Prescriptions were obtained.  Three was picked up from meeting with professor.  Four was retrieved from class.  Car battery was dead.  Battery was jumped.  Fish was eaten.  Mary was exhausted.
