Recessional - Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
I apologize for having no rhyme or reason to the songs posted. Sometimes I forget to record, and other times I get prideful and don't include something if I made a mistake. Sometimes I'm just lazy.
Steve's Introit seems so short because I just caught the end of it! Sigh.

Near the end of the Recessional - I could hear people talking - were those people departing at the time? At your parish - where is the choir situated relative to the altar? To the side, in the rear, etc.?
Our choir sings from the choir loft in the back of the church. The people you heard were, indeed, in the process of leaving.
At my parish, designed like a blase community center by an architect with George Jetson sensibilities, the choir has an area allotted that pretty well abuts the altar area.
TH2, our parish has three weekend Masses; two have the choir in the loft, and the 3rd (11:00 a.m. Sunday) has the choir and an electric piano positioned in front of Our Lady's altar abutting the altar. The glances, cleavage, short skirts, and sitting during the consecration is DISTRACTING.
"George Jetson": haha! But seriously, I'm very sorry.
Also, TH2, our people of our parish are LOUD after Mass ends, despite the admittedly sparse numbers who are kneeling and trying to pray.
One Saturday night after Mass, the choir and I decided to chant "Ave Maria" to see if we could quiet the chatter; they only talked louder.
Lately, I've been using the pedal reeds and playing VERY LOUDLY in an effort to drive them out. :)
If people greeted one another outside, things might be a little bit better. I realize sometimes it's too hot, too rainy, or too cold for this... but not always! Oh well.
yes, I think sometimes they do get louder when you get louder. I mean, sheesh, they ARE trying to talk Mary! Gosh! ;)
MCK, I am so rude! *evil grin*
But there is always that group of people standing outside the church after Mass; I'm pretty sure they always go outside and THEN start their conversations. The "coffee hour" after the 9:00 Mass should and does result in folks going downstairs to socialize. But now that the post-11:00 Mass luncheon has been eliminated, folks just hang out in the nave/altar area. Maybe I'll record it next week.
Ooh, did I tell you about the time the kid was playing hackysack right next to the Altar of Sacrifice? He was standing right next to his parents.
TH2, I'll post some pictures of our parish sometime soon. You should email me some pictures of your dome in the sky.
Mary: Ya, the George Jetson thing is kind of depressing. A few months ago at Mass, the original parish priest who was there from the beginning, introduced the architect (in the pews) during the homily, complimenting him on the "beautiful" design of the parish... and everyone starting clapping, save yours truly. I guess I must be one of those elitist types.
Our parish peeps are very loud too. Here's a tidbit for you: two or three Sundays ago I was sitting at the rear, and the ushers were talking very loud to one another, a little distracting for me (plus two ladies were chatting away loudly as well in the same area). Well, I went up to both parties and (honestly) in a very respectful manner asked if they could keep it down or take it outside. Anyhow, one of the ladies gave me a "well I never..." sort of look, and a few minutes later, one of the ushers (after I returned to the pew) came up to me and was ready to start an argument - I had to direct him to go outside before he blew his top. So we went out and he told me off. I explained my position, sternly, but again respectfully, but he would have none of it.
Someone else from the parish tells me that that usher is still quite angry at me and will confront me again. Round 2 will come soon, I surmise...
Looking forward to your parish pics (at your convenience). I'll also get some from mine and e-mail (though I do not have a a digital camera - can you believe that? - but I will use my cell phone camera - but I have to figure out how to transfer that to my computer... I'm slightly behind the curve when it comes to technology).
MCK: "If people greeted one another outside, things might be a little bit better." An excellent point!
HACKYSACK?! Sheesh... why were they even up in the sanctuary?
Until recently, I was afraid to even go into the sacristy - actually besides trying to help you that one time set up for Adoration, I had never been back there until I was called out at Mass to meet with Fr. afterwards (just 2 weeks ago)! I don't get it.. but we've talked about that before.
Heh, TH2 yes. I was trying to be as PC as possible with my suggestion - I, myself, am sometimes guilty of conversation within the Church after Mass... but I try to make it a rarity or definitely be on the move outside if I do get caught in conversation. (Not to take the blame off of me, but I'm a quiet one typically and don't start conversations with many people anyway, unless it's Mary, but she's EVIL ..she said so herself up there!)
Hi MCK: My experience with the ushers and the ladies was just prior to Mass, not after. I should have made that clear. My fault.
P.S. I already know Mary is evil :)
Wait, peoples! I only said "evil grin*.
If I must claim the title "evil", let it be paired with the word "genius".
For the record, I am lenient when it comes to conversation in church, as long as it is *quiet* and doesn't create a disturbance. After all, it's hard to conduct a choir practice without talking at a certain volume. But I don't think that's what we're talking about here. As I waited Saturday for the wedding party to clear out, Jesus was subjected to whoops and miscellaneous yelling and exclamations.
TH2, you can bet that the usher is suffering from guilt. At least I hope so. :)
Yes - agreed with you Mary - a certain level of conversing is okay I think in certain situations.
TH2: BEFORE Mass, I definitely don't think that's okay. At my parish at home (in SC), the ushers/greeters greet people in the vestibule which has French doors separating it from the rest of the Church, and sometimes it can get a little rowdy back there, but at least it's behind closed doors and even then it's a rare occurrence. The time before Mass is DEFINITELY meant to be prayerful. I've been to a few parishes where they lead the Rosary right up until the 5-10 minutes before Mass begins. Perhaps this can be a solution? (I know that's a lot - but at our Diocesan "Social Concern" meeting, it was an idea brought up to do for Respect Life... I *may* ::ahem Mary:: see about instituting it at St. Paul's... maybe try it out in October since it's the month of the Rosary)...
my ::ahem Mary:: was to get your feedback on the idea, btw...
And I definitely think that you can add genius after the evil - that does suit you more. ...it was originally intended as a joke ;)
Unfortunately I didn't inherit the genius part from Madame Blogmistress, though I do have the evil grin down. I hear that certain individuals believe firmly that I'm one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. "Hello, I'm Pestilence, nice to meet you. Is that your firstborn?--oh, good, I've been dying to meet him..."
Rosary before Mass is a splendid idea, and of course you have my whole-hearted support, MCK.
Celestine, I seriously wish I had even half of your brain power.
Dude, wait, wuuuuut? O_o
