Music from guitar Mass: I was NOT involved.

There was a youth Mass today. I offered to play, and to teach music to the youth, but no dice.

I have removed the sounds files from this Mass.  If for some reason you wish to hear them, email me and I will send you a link.

Ack! What the heck is this supposed to be? Donkey mating calls? My ears will never function the same way again.

On a serious note, there is no justification for inflicting this auditory abomination upon the poor people in attendance that day.

Dr. Foosball,

My chief point is that the music I provide is more conducive to prayer and is suited to the liturgy. Additionally, the usurpation of my substitute position (the Music Director was out of town) meant a loss of wages for me. I was present at the liturgy so that there was no question as to my availability.

I timed myself on how long I could last listening to Table of Plenty:

3 guitar chords. Yikes. God save us!

Thank you for your reply. To clarify, what you have said in your comment is essentially what I meant to say with mine. My "no justification" comment was directed at the "musician" that day.

And the loss of wages does stink. There was no reason for you to have lost that particular Mass.

I don't want to disrespect the musician; the music, however, is much better suited to a different setting, except for ridiculous songs like Gather Us In, which is a parody of a hymn.

Guess I'm still a little hot under the hat about this.

I don't get guitar accompaniment, first of all. How do you know what to sing and when to come in? Does it [the guitar] always sound so twangy?

Is there even any accompaniment on the psalm? And ooo... a dramatic reading of verses? Classy.

Why's it always the same songs
- I'm fairly certain these were the same ones done at the last Youth Mass and at the Retreat Mass. Unfortunately Table of Plenty is going to replace Der Fuhrer's Face as the song that is currently stuck in my head...

Was ist Das?:

Regarding what to sing and when to come in, if you listen carefully, you'll notice that the guitarist starts everything vocal, because the pips have no idea what's going on. You know that hand thrust that's used by cantors to indicate the people's parts? I've learned that there's a guitar neck thrust counterpart. Guitars in church are not always so obnoxious and twangy, but these strings were being forcefully beaten.

Yeah, it's always the same. old. songs.

TH2, I knew you'd notice that. :)

Ramen Guy, you should've listened more; mortification is good for you.

Psssst! Blogmistress! I need some help...see, I sent those files to the authorities at Guantanamo, and they used it to interrogate some prisoners, and, well...let's just say there's now a warrant for my arrest in seven different countries on charges of war crimes, including the United States, Pakistan, Iraq and Cuba.

So, can you help me out?
