Starker plays Kodaly - Cello

Words fail me in trying to describe this video.  You don't have to know anything about the cello to know you're seeing and hearing a truly remarkable performance. Enjoy this marvelous piece.

I am dumbfounded. The speed across the fingerboard, the smoothness of play despite the complicatedness, all memorized without notation... there is really so much that can be said about this performance.

...an thank you for introducing me to Koldaly. Checked out his brief bio on Wikipedia. Very interesting. My musical knowledge has increased umpteen fold since I began reading this blog.

Sorry for the delay in responding, TH2. I'm glad you enjoyed this performance. I love the look on Starker's face after he finishes the piece. Remembering that this is the third movement, and probably the end of a long concert; I'm astonished at the quality of his playing. Bravo!
