Recital - Bach, Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele

Johann Sebastian Bach, the most important composer of the Baroque era, was known primarily during his lifetime as a famous organist and harpsichordist. He was a prolific composer for voices, organ, harpsichord and other instruments. Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele, composed during his years in Weimar, Germany, is one of his best-known ornamented chorale preludes. Regarding this piece, Robert Schumann recalled Mendelssohn’s exclamation that, “If life were to deprive me of hope and faith, this single chorale would replenish me with both.”
