As a young man, my uncle was a drag racer (ca. 1960s). I can still remember, when I was a little guy, he took me out to see a stock car race at Pinecrest Speedway (no longer existent, area now an industrial park). I recall the thrill of hearing those screaming engines and a crash after the front hood of one car popped off into the air.
I would feel guilty about ruining Shelby's tires, but...last week I did a similar thing on the highway with my dad (sorry, Dad!) I very quickly got to 70 mph (113 kph) in 3rd gear which was GREAT fun, but the fear of a speeding ticket (and death) made me stop accelerating. The feeling was...how do you say....INTOXICATING.
Your uncle sounds like a fun guy. :) I went to some type of car race (may have been stock) as a young teen; all I remember was the noise and the dirt on a hot summer day.
Shelby has hood pins, but unfortunately those puppies sometimes fail.
