Here are a few program notes before you listen:
These were recorded with a hand-held voice recorder; this means the bass response can be described as lousy at best. The recorder was placed on the ledge of the choir loft, directly behind the organ bench, so please excuse the occasional loud creak of the bench (organ playing can get a little aerobic at times).
I'm planning to record these again in a month or so with a real(!) microphone and a laptop. Perhaps they'll be (almost) mistake-free by then!
Wie schon....(Buxtehude)
Processional (Mathias)
Prelude in C Major (BWV 547) (Bach)
Fugue in C Major (BWV 547) (Bach)

Now THIS is how glory is given to God!
I am humbled...really... and I do not say this in a "matter of fact" way. Seriously. Your parish does not know the great gift they have in your organ/voice. Or do they?
Why, Mary, why must liturgical reform (which includes elevating-reverencing voice and music) away from the "spirit" of VII take so long? If only Catholics would listen to this - it is indeed a form of witness, renewal and evangelization. The hippies are now in control, but change for the better is coming, and your wonderful music is, in my opinion, a holy weapon to be used in the battle against the enemies of the Church, both within and without.
TH2, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kind words are an inspiration to me.
I have much to say about your last paragraph, but I must censor myself. I appreciate the sentiments you've expressed, and I totally agree with you.
Interiorly, God has asked that I keep my emotions/temper/exasperation in check, and I should quietly continue doing my job. This is DIFFICULT for me (keeping my mouth shut), but I do expect God's Will will be accomplished in due time.
I've been listening to these while working, and surprisingly, they make me focus. Maybe I should listen to organ every time I sit down to write! Maybe that will motivate me!!
They're really good recordings, Mary!
Thanks so much, MCK! I decided to post them even though they have mistakes; if I wait until they're perfect, I'll never post anything.
I've found that having the recorder on makes me very nervous - just about as nervous as a live audience. My prayer is that the action of recording the pieces will help calm my stage fright a bit.
And if you find that organ music consistently helps you concentrate, then BONUS!!!! :) The music library is full of awesome recordings.
