R.I.P. St. Paul Vigil Mass

Most of you know by now that because of parish clustering and anticipated reduced number of priests, the Mass schedules at St. Paul and Christ the King have been changed.  The Vigil Mass, for which this blog is named, ceases to exist after August 27, 2011.

Additionally, the hours of Adoration that follow this Vigil Mass will no longer be observed.

The gentle reader will be spared the details of how I feel about this.  I spent a not insignificant amount of time each Saturday at the church, each moment cherished and treasured.

A meeting was held today with five musicians and the two priests to try to hash out the details of who will provide music for which Mass.  The only certain thing decided was that there'll be another meeting on August 25.  Yes, August 25, just a few days before the official schedule change, September 1.

I "volunteered" to play the organ at the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Mass; the priests will have to deal with the political ramifications of this.  And I don't know for sure if I will continue to play at St. Paul.  If I don't, then I'll have to travel to either the Diocese of Columbus or the Diocese of Charleston.  Or Bermuda.

Regardless, posting here will end after the August 27 recordings.  Perhaps I'll start another blog, and maybe it'll be anonymous but public.  Comment or send an email if you'd like to visit the new blog, when I finally get around to making it.

Ad majorem Dei gloriam,
Mary

I'm sorry, Aunt Mary :-( This is very sad news. I pray you'll find another place that will make you happy. And I definitely want to follow any new blog that you may create.

Love you.

I am quite sad to read this post.

After seeing the change in blog background colour, I never would have figured that it signalled an ending.

St. Paul Athens Saturday Schola was part of my essential reading.

When I first started blogging 2+ years ago you were one of the first to welcome me to the blogosphere, and for that I am grateful. Since then I have learned much about sacred music - from your commentary, audio recordings and video postings. I am especially going to miss the "attitude" of this blog, if you know what I mean.

Don't know what else to say to console for the change now going on. But know if/when you start another blog, I will be there.

Prayers continue...

Your loyal follower, TH2.
