Nooo! This is just one more victory for the evil one as he lures more and more well-meaning people away from the Truth of real beauty! When people say they "don't feel moved" by "classical" music and would rather hear euphemistic feel-good folk songs, I would beg the question, "have you ever truly experienced good and beautiful music?" There is no way you can NOT BE MOVED by any hearing of Renaissance polyphony or the like. No one enters the Sistine Chapel and rolls their eyes. There is TRUTH (not to mention awe and wonder of God's majesty) to be found in AESTHETIC BEAUTY.
*sigh* Sorry. I am just really frustrated and depressed at the state of things musically in the Church. And the extinguishing of the courageous flame that was the St. Paul's 6pm Mass Choir and most of all, their fearless leader, is yet another attempt by Satan to relegate Church music to that of nothing more than passing secular trends.
p.s. Nice image of the stained glass in the Church. You should cut this out some night and haul it away in your mustang. If for nothing else, than as a metaphor for what will be happening.
Beautifully stated, ChurchMusicMilitant. The disarray that the Church is currently undergoing is a very serious matter. But turn your eyes to our unwavering Lord. He is sending the youth to do the work of stronger and more capable elders. Just as David had his giant to slay, we too as the youth of Church, have our due battles with the evil one. But lo, it is the Lord who uses us as His instruments, as fray as we are, to combat what likewise seems just as impossible as defeating principalities and powers, let alone a giant of a man. It shall be within our lifetime that sacred music that once again will fill His Holy Sanctuaries to draw in His children to greater awe and inspiration to praise Him always as we should.
Blessed Choir Mistress, my sincere condolences on this terrible, yet what may not seem as of now, occurrence of the ending of the 6pm Saturday Schola. As you know, when our Lord closes a door, He never leaves you in a dark hallway without a path to exit. He will use the talents that He has been honing in you to do great and wondrous works in one way or another. To the greater glory of God always.

It's just not fair.
Tis very sad indeed. We won't ever have this again :(
Trying to just feel resigned about it, but haven't succeeded yet.

You stated it perfectly.
Some us didn't get to enter the Sistine Chapel. But we wouldn't have rolled our eyes... sigh.
FYI: It's closed on Saturdays. The Sistine Chapel..
