Here you go:
GOD TREE MEDITATION
Leader needs to read the meditation slowly, pausing for the Spirit to work in the "empty spaces."
* Begin by relaxing. Then imagine yourself in summer, somewhere out-of-doors. The weather is pleasant...you are alone...you like being there and alone. Find yourself in a pleasant, outdoor place in summer.
* As you are enjoying being alone out-of-doors, you begin to realize something. So gently, you become aware that God is appearing to you in the image of a tree. Let that tree slowly come into focus for you.
* What kind of tree is your God tree?
* How does it look?
* Perhaps something is going on around it. If there is, what is happening around your God tree.
* As you are noticing your God tree, you slowly and gently become aware that you are a tree. What kind of a tree are you?
* Let it come to you, let it come into focus.
* What is your tree like?
* Where is it in relation to the God tree?
* Perhaps there is something going on in or near your tree. If so, what is happening around your tree?
* Are there any other trees near you or the God tree? Are there any other trees in sight? (Maybe yes, maybe no. If so, what are they like?
* Is anything happening near them?
When you feel finished, slowly come back to your room and time.
Someone's been dropping too much acid. I can't imagine hearing this and not walking out, shaking the dust from my sandals. They must think teenagers are idiots.

You conclude: "They must think teenagers are idiots". That is what really bugs me about such publication "materials". It's my experience/observation that many teenagers laugh at such nonsense, due to cheeziness and so forth. They are correct in responding in that manner.
It's all about the hippies wanting to get hip with the kidz.
My guess is that the original publication date of the "retreat materials" ranged between 1970 and and 1985.
I don't want to be too flippant about this, but is it any wonder that youth leave the Church when they're exposed to this drivel? I'd probably leave too if I was treated like a moron. (You should see the illustrations that come with these materials; one of them looks quite perverted.)
You are correct, sir--the original publication of the meditation was in 1982. HOWEVER, these retreat materials are dated 1997.
