I'd like to learn the Ubi Caritas chant (BB 421), but it won't be done by this weekend. (The Benoit version of Where Charity and Love Prevail is an excellent substitute, though.) We'll work on the chant slowly, and we'll have a LOT of opportunities to use it.
Starting in September, we'll be singing the Preface at Mass. Exciting!!!

MCK, I would LOVE to do the chant Gloria. In fact, I would do handstands, lose twenty pounds, and maybe even become a social animal (temporarily, of course) if only we could do the chant Gloria.
To do the chant gloria, I would...
--clean the pews for a month (no problem there)
--do an essay on environmentalism
--only wear my Doc Martens once a week
--attend a LifeTeen Mass.
--become a diplomat and dialogue with NKorea (just kidding! If I go to NKorea, it won't be in the context of diplomacy.)
Seriously though.. what would it take to be able to do the chant Gloria? It's really not that hard. And I don't buy this 'people wouldn't know what they were singing' excuse. I mean, let's give them a LITTLE bit of credit...

So sorry. I would rather just sing the 1980's junk music the rest of my life than go to a Life Teen Mass. My head will explode if I have to go to one of those! Yuck!

I think I agree with you. Life Teen probably is definable as cruel and unusual punishment somewhere. But I would be willing to suffer through it...maybe. It depends on if I also had to go to North Korea or not. But Life Teen and NKorea together...no. Ain't gonna happen. But one or the other...
I'd be willing to take one for the team and attend the Lifeteen Mass with you so long as we found a TLM or even a really awesome Novus Ordo to attend shortly thereafter to eradicate the memory of said Mass. Who can we see about negotiations? Whoever we come to terms with, we should let them know that, three posts above, we got permission from THE higher power...
