Recordings from 7/23/11 Mass

Our lone male choir member has officially gone where no baritone has gone before.  As soon as he started the Introit, I was panicking for him, because I thought there was no way he could sing that high.  I was wrong, thank the Lord.

Don't you think I'd know better than to wait until today to practice this piece?  Wake, O Wake, And Sleep No Longer.  Nearly any accompaniment by Bach is going to be a bear, and this is no exception.  Listen to that pedal line!  Made some mistakes, but c'est la vie.  Not many people knew the melody (that's why I played it for a prelude), but how are they going to learn if they don't hear it?  .......I'm just now told that people had their books open and were singing.  :)

Psalm (Lord I Love Your Commands) & Acclamation

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence sounds like should be depressing, and that's why I like to play it at a decent clip, all bouncy and happy.  In the last verse, we're singing "Alleluia," you know!

When there are only three ladies singing, it's hard to stagger breaths.  Communion antiphon:  Simile est regnum caelorum...

This is usually done as an entrance hymn, but I think it's a perfectly lovely recessional.  Now Thank We All Our God

I feel just slightly ambivalent about putting on recordings where I make so many mistakes, but you already know I'm not perfect, right? :)
